From residential renovations in Hamilton to delivering complex design-build projects across Canada and the United States, WDI Group’s success has been built on a simple principle: creating lasting value through exceptional design, construction, and client partnerships. 1976
Founded in Hamilton, Ontario, K.G. Baird General Contracting began by specializing in residential additions, renovations, and custom home construction, building a reputation for quality craftsmanship and client-focused service.
1980s
- Incorporated as K.G. Baird General Contracting Inc.
- Continued growth in custom home construction
- Completed the company’s first commercial construction projects
- Established a foundation for future diversification into larger-scale developments
1990s
- Completed first government-funded projects
- Relocated to a new office in Burlington, Ontario
- Constructed the iconic Devil’s Punchbowl Viewing Platform

Dave Baird
Dave has been a key leader at WDI Group since 2003, driving strong client retention through outstanding, attentive customer service and a consistently high-performing team. He works closely with clients to make sure every single project reflects their vision and goals. Dave is also passionate about supporting nonprofit initiatives, and values his role as a husband and father of two.
Keith Baird
Keith, the founding partner of WDI Group, first helped launch the company all the way back in 1976 as K.G. Baird Contracting. He has played a vital role in shaping WDI's entrepreneurial spirit and helping clients create inspiring workspaces. Keith remains passionate about construction innovation and enjoys traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren.
Sheldon Baird
Sheldon joined WDI Group in 2005, bringing more than 15 years of industry experience and a strong commitment to guiding every project from concept to completion. He works closely with project teams to ensure alignment, quality, and client satisfaction throughout. Sheldon also supports youth education programs, and values time spent with his wife and three sons.
